Dance Weekender at Inn on the Prom July 2021

The first Dance Break just as the country came out of Covid Restrictions, and we had a ball! The first night was a celebration of all things Sixties, but the whole weekend was dedicated to Ballroom, Latin and Popular Sequence Dancing.

Argentine Tango Workshop

Argentine Tango Workshop, June 2021

Elaine Potter returned to the studio in June to run another Argentine Tango Workshop but with Covid restrictions still in place, numbers were restricted. Nevertheless, dancers worked hard to improve their knowledge of this fascinating dance.

Modern Jive Workshops 16th and 24th October

KAY and SIMON led two Modern Jive Workshops in October. Again, the Covid-Compliant Dance Studio meant numbers were limited and to fixed partners only, but it provided an excellent dance workout, and several new moves to incorporate and perfect!

Argentine Tango Workshop Sunday 18th October

For the first time, the Dance Studio welcomed ELAINE POTTER, 4 times undefeated World Argentine Tango Champion. She ran an Improvers Workshop for fixed couples. With the current social distancing measures, numbers were extremely limited, but everyone worked hard and had enough material to practice with back home in their living rooms and kitchens!

September in the Sun: 20th September 2020

The sun shone yet again on some very happy dancers, this time dancing to the delightful keyboard notes of Carol Bradbury. The Police were consulted to ensure no rules were being broken with the playing of live music, and as with all the outdoor dances, numbers were limited to 30. Such fun!!!

Dancing on the Tarmac at the Dance Studio: July – August 2020

Before the nights started drawing in, Dancing on the Tarmac was the short term answer for the Modern Jive dancer. Dancing in the studio’s private car park, and in line with Government guidelines, numbers were limited to a maximum of 30 and you had to book in advance. NO walk-ins were allowed. Dancers had to bring their own chair and drinks, and wore comfortable, sensible shoes. It was fixed couples only, but there were a fair number of singles who just came to dance solo, and socialise at distance with others. Good weather seemed to favour Tuesday evenings, and there were lots of smiling faces!

Chance to Dance at the Dance Studio: July – August 2020

A spot of Ballroom and Latin, a fair measure of Sequence, a dollop of Latin in Line and a topping of Modern Jive! Dancing in the studio’s private car park, there really was something for everyone. Numbers were limited to a maximum of 30 and you had to book in advance. NO walk-ins were allowed, you had to sit socially distanced and even the car park was marked with pink, socially distanced crosses! You needed to bring your own chair and drinks, and wear comfortable, sensible shoes! No dance shoes just yet, but the weather each week was kind and just gave everyone a Chance to Dance!

Reopening Night: 25th July 2020

Following Government guidelines it was with great joy that Want2Dance with Victoria reopened on Saturday 25th July! Some very happy dancers managed three hours of virtual non-stop Ballroom, Latin, Sequence, Modern Jive and Latin in Line Dancing, with plenty of social distancing and excellent floorcraft! How lovely to put those dance shoes on again, wear a dress, and go out dancing.

Winter Ball 2020

This was the first major event major event on the Want2Dance calendar 2020. Held at the prestigious Burton upon Trent Town Hall, the Mayor and Mayoress were in attendance and the raffle raised nearly £500 for charity. Who would have thought then, that this was to be the last big event of the year and not just the first? But along came coronavirus……

The Opening Night of the Dance Studio: 30 March 2019

After three months of hard work converting an office suite into a stylish, modern dance studio, dancers took to the floor with the fabulous Dave Evans providing all the music.
